Wildlife Sanctuaries in Nagaland
Nagaland state offers incomparable
culture and tradition enriched in heritage. The economy of Nagaland is grounded
on Agriculture. The total land of state is 52% covered with dense forests and
hence is popular for Wildlife sanctuary. Nagaland is known for two famous birds,
the Great Indian Hornbill and the Blyth 's
Tragopan, which is a also the State Bird of Nagaland. About one-sixth of the
state is under the cover of tropical and sub-tropical evergreen forests making
it affluent in flora and fauna.

The Nagaland Fakim Sanctuary is spread over an area of 642 ha. The Fakim Sanctuary receives high rainfall and is home to numerous flora & fauna. The sanctuary houses some of the rare species of flora & fauna, found elsewhere. It is also rich in varied vegetation. The Fakim Sanctuary is quite rich in its variety of rare species of fauna. Circuit House and PWD Inspection Bunglow are available for the tourists in Nagaland.
Ghosu Bird Sanctuary :-
Nagaland is known for two famous
birds, the Great Indian Hornbill and the Blyth 's
Tragopan, which is a also the State Bird of Nagaland. The main attraction of
the sanctuary is the endangered 20 species of birds including different
migratory birds are sometimes observed. The Ghosu Bird Sanctuary is positioned 8km
in the south-west part of Zunheboto, Nagaland.
The forest sanctuary is under Forest department, as there are variety of animals and rare species are been observed. The sanctuary is a large collection of birds. The sanctuary is rich with varied wealth of flora & fauna. There are jungle resorts also a Forest Rest House and transport on hire subject to availability. The landscape of this part is abound with hills and mountains.
