How to Reach
By Road:- Luxury buses as well as
state transport are available from all the nearby cities of Dhanbad. Tourists
can also hire private vehicles to reach the destination.
By Rail:- Dhanbad is connected to
different cities in the country. Apart from the general trains, tourists have
the options to travel in Rajdhani Express as well.
By Air:- Ranchi airport is the nearest one and is
well-connected to all the prime locations in the country.
Topchanchi is an artificial lake.
Built for smooth and proper water supply in Jharia, the lake was created in
1915. Around 2 km long this lake is a special destination for bird-watchers as
they can spot many known and unknown birds here. They not only keep the
environment chirpy but also make the surroundings colourful.
Topchanchi Wildlife sanctuary is
situated in Dhanbad district in State of Jharkhand
and is beautified with the untidy grass land and bamboo tress. This sanctuary
covers an area of 8.75 square kilometres. The forests here are of Dry Mixed
Deciduous type with Dry Peninsular Sal in Baneshpur and Bawardaha, the other
tree species being Asan, Bijasal, Dhow, Semal, Kendu, Piar, Karam, Siris, Sidha
etc. The grassland and bamboo crops are also present. The flora that dominated
this sanctuary consists tree species of this forest are Asan, Bijasal, Dhow,
Semal, Kendu, Piar, Karam, Siris, Sidha etc. Topchanchi Wildlife sanctuary is
ornamented with green grass land and bamboo trees.
With amazing and some of the most
endangered wildlife species the Topchanchi Wildlife Sanctuary at Bihar attracts a good number of nature and wildlife
enthusiasts in the sanctuary. Leopard, jungle cat, cheetal, barking deer, wild
boar, mongoose, langur, jackal, fox and wild dogs are few common mammalian
species in the forest of Topchanchi Wildlife Sanctuary in Bihar. Jungle Cat, Cheetal, Barking Deer, Wild Boar,
Mongoose, Fox, Wild Dog etc. constitute
the mammal fauna here. The Topchanchi
Lake adds to the richness
of the habitat and is visited by migratory winter birds too.

Sanctuary
Topchanchi Wildlife Sanctuary is a
bird watchers paradise and well known site for the flow of migratory birds.
Bird lovers will find some of the best bird species in this sanctuary such as
pochards, red crested pochards and coots. Topchanchi sanctuary provides
significant shelter for the resident birds that include bronze winged jacanas,
pond herons, egrets, swamp partridges, etc.
Parasnath Hill
Parasnath Hill is located in
Giridih district. It is a popular Jain pilgrim centre. It has one of the
popular pilgrimage centres for followers of Jainism. These picturesque ranges
rise to a height of 4431 ft. Named after Parasnath, 23rd Tirthankara in Jain
religion, the hill is visited by many devotees throughout the year. Popularly
known as Sammet Sikhar, the hill has several temples. Popular celebrations in
the temple include a hunting festival, which is celebrated on the full moon
(Purnima) day in April. According to the legends and belief, few temples on the
hill are more than 2,000 years old. So you can go out on a picnic or excursion
to this hill and enjoy amidst the nature s splendor.
Topchanchi Lake
The streams of Parasnath hills feed
this lake. Its location amidst hillocks make it a scenic place. This 214 acres
of natural water reservoir is the chief source of water supply to Jharia,
Dhanbad, etc. It looks even more
beautiful during the monsoon, when the surrounding is washed green. Monsoon is
also the time when the lake gets flocked with migratory birds.
