Rajmahal Hill District and Sahibganj District. It also passes through different

The Udhwa Lake Bird Sanctuary is the only bird sanctuary in
the entire state of Jharkhand. The Udhwa Lake Bird Sanctuary in Rajmahal Hills,
the lakes of Pataura and Berhale gobble up an area of 155 hectares and 410
hectares respectively. Udhwa Lake Bird Sanctuary is situated at a stone's throw
from the holy rivulet known as Ganga that adds
a pleasant feel to its atmosphere. Incorporating the Pataura and Berhale lakes,
is home to a variety of birds including different mynas, brahminy kites,
fishing eagles, hose swifts and palm swifts flying at dizzying speeds. The
Paradise-fly catcher is a wonder to behold as it flies, with its tail
describing a wave-like movement.
This Sanctuary is famous as a stop point for a large number
of migratory birds that come here in winters from Europe and Siberia.
The main birds in the place include Pratincole, Egret, Wagtail, Plover,
Lapwing, Stork, Ibis, Heron, Wader, etc.This entire sanctuary is spread over a
total area of 5.65 sq km.
This place is known as the Udhwa Lake Bird Sanctuary
located in the territory
of Sahibganj. Among all
of them, there are some of the birds that are resident birds while rest of them
migrates from other neighborhood regions. If you are a nature lover but more a

The bird sanctuary comprises two major delectable wonderful
lakes such as Pataura and Berhale. It also holds a small Ganga River,

the bird species satisfy themselves in huge amount of mud near the banks of
river they are very rare to see. They are Stork, Heron, Wagtail, Lapwing,
Pratincole, Ibis, Egret, Plover, Wader, and lot more. Visitors can experience

Udhwa Lake Bird Sanctuary is located at a short distance from the sacred small
stream known as the Ganga

The six different species of Myna are the Brahminy, Jungle
Myna, Bank Myna, Indian Myna, Pied Myna, and the rarest one is the Grey headed
Myna. The sanctuary is actually pretty worth to watch and observe the bird
behavior which gives a thrilling view. Apart from the pretty birds, there are
also some of the other wild avian creatures who reside here; they are Parakeet,
Indian Roller, Drongo, Kingfisher, Swallow, House and Palm Swift, Vulture and
Hawk, Fishing Eagle, Brahminy Kite, Tern, and many other birds.
Other Bird Sanctuaries in Bihar
Topchanchi(9sq km), 35km from the mining town of Dhanbad. Udaipur (9sq km) in Champaran, is noted for
the flow of migratory birds including pochards, red crested pochards and coots.
Resident birds include bronze winged jacanas, pond herons, egrets, swamp partridges,
etc. The Nagi Dam Sanctuary (1.9sq km) near Jhajha is the smallest sanctuary in
the state and also a place to spot migratory birds. 15km from Patna, Danapur is also a significant shelter
for migratory birds, especially janghils (open billed storks). Bihar has its share of the rich Indian diversity of
nature, where a good number of animals, birds and reptiles have helped uphold
the image of the state as a wildlife haven.

by watching those beautiful two winged birds. These migratory birds include
Western Swallow, Blue-throat, Yellow and White Wagtail, Temmink;s Stint, Common

Grey-headed Lapwing, Brown-headed Gull, Black-headed, and lot more.
